Life update...

Just gonna leave a list here, ok?

  1. Friday (10/08) we left for Parish Family Retreat. (Keep in mind, the wife is two weeks out from surgery.) We were at retreat until Sunday afternoon, and we then began the three-hour drive home.
  2. Monday (10/11) I was off (yeah, Federal employment!) but the wife started teaching again, since she's an adjunct at a couple of small, private colleges. First time out, post-surgery, so I made (let?) her drive, to see how she was able to handle it. I spent the day reading a new book (My Year Inside Radical Islam, ISBN 978-1-58542-611-9) I had started over Parish retreat.
  3. Reading a book like this at an Episcopal retreat opens up a lot of conversation. Who knew?
  4. Tuesday (10/12) was a normal work day, as the rest of the week will be. Rehearsal that evening (2 hours) with the Chorale for the upcoming concerts.
  5. Wednesday found me at our normal choir rehearsal, which, mercifully, was cut short to a little over 30 minutes. What did I do with my newly-found freedom? I went with the wife--and two friends--to the Fair, and we ate: corndogs, funnel cake, gyros, boiled peanuts, drank a lot, polish sausage (all the way!) and fudge. (This was all after dinner.)
  6. Thursday brings (brought, depending on when you read this) a two-hour (or so) dress rehearsal for Carmina Burana. This is our first meeting with the two pianists, the percussionists, and the Youth Chorale. We've worked with the dancers for the past three weeks.
  7. Friday is the concert itself! 7:00pm, Davis Theatre. Come on by!
  8. Saturday is the second concert! 7:30pm, Davis Theatre. Come on by!
Let's not talk about the next week, ok?
